NOBLE
A book on Jewish noble laureates, published in the 1960’s, had caught my attention – all of the laureates were men, and most had mustaches. The series is a monument to a childhood dream of mine to be an award-winning scientist. At least I decorated several of the real winners with color.

GAMZU
I received from my grandmother several books of Haim Gamzu, a literature and art critic and a past curator of Tel Aviv Museum. Since I never studied art in an academic way, his books served me both as a course of Israeli history of art and as a comfortable platform for drawing and color experiments.

ELECTRICITY
During my military service I was enchanted by transmission towers and their splendor while I was passing by them, especially at full-moon nights. I played a lot of chess at the time and developed a fantasy to build a chess board out of them somewhere in the desert. I even visited the electric corporation and received blueprints of the towers’ design. Years later I found those blueprints and painted them. That is all that left of the megalomaniac childish fantasy.

ST. JAMES BIBLE
In my youth I have acquired a Saint James Holy Bible from 1704. At some point I started using it to clean the brushes, unintendedly creating small and seemingly insignificant paintings. With time the pages accumulated, and I developed a motivation to decorate every page of the old and new testaments.

INVOICE BOOKS
I love using invoice books and banknotes, old and new alike. On one hand it might be a wish that my work would bring me profit, and on the other it might be a reflection on the meaning of money in general. The way in which a banknote turns into something else with the addition of color amuses and surprises me.
